This past weekend, Periscope celebrated its one-year anniversary by highlighting some of its favourite broadcasts.
Acquired by Twitter for $86M last year, Periscope revealed that 200 million broadcasts have been made within the app, 100 million of which were done in just the past three months.

Since its initial launch in March 2015, Periscope has added landscape support, web profiles, the ability to browse by map and to skip ahead in replays.
Broadcasts have also become available within Twitter feeds, and GoPro support was added earlier this year. It was also named Apple’s App of the Year in 2015 after launching for the new Apple TV.
Periscope has risen dramatically in its usage since its acquisition and subsequent launch by Twitter, eclipsing its competitor, Meerkat, as the predominant live streaming service.
Facebook has attempted to counter Periscope by launching its own live video service, which had only been available to celebrities or influencers on Facebook until recently.
