Today, Facebook announced that it will let any WordPress blog post Instant Articles with ease.
Automattic and Facebook are partnering to release an Instant Article WordPress plugin. The plugin creates a RSS feed that automatically creates posts to appear as Instant Articles. The plugin is open-source and customizable.
Automattic explained that anyone using the plugin will have to be reviewed by Facebook to ensure their content is “properly formatted and adhere to their community standards and content policies before you’ll be able to start pushing content to the platform.”
Over the past few months, some larger publishers have seen great results from Instant Articles. As part of the early program, companies like The New York Times, BuzzFeed, The Washington Post, and many more had access to the program and were publishing hundreds of pieces of content per day.
Instant Articles will be available to everyone starting April 12, when Facebook holds its F8 conference in San Francisco.
