5 Uncomfortable Deeds That Will Make You More Successful

Getting out of your comfort zone is always difficult. Humans are creatures who love routine and sticking to the same old schedule. The problem is this is never going to help you learn and grow. The only way you’re going to break out of your comfort zone is by engaging in uncomfortable deeds.

Doing so will make you more successful in the long-term because you’re going to address your weak points and become more confident. So what are the uncomfortable deeds you should take on?

Public Speaking

Public speaking is currently the fifth biggest fear of Americans. It might have dropped from being the number one fear, but that doesn’t make it any less pressing than before. By addressing public speaking you can decrease stress and improve performance.

So how do you go about addressing public speaking?

You should perform a speech in front of the mirror. Watch yourself giving the speech and note how you come across. This is a powerful act because you’re putting yourself in the position of the listener. You’re seeing things from the other person’s perspective.

Finally, you should aim to speak publicly as soon as you can and as often as you can. Be bold and offer to conduct that presentation to the boss. You’ll find that the more you do it the more proficient you’ll become.

Getting Up Early

Getting up early is too much for some people, especially if they don’t happen to be morning people. The benefit of getting up early is you can collect your thoughts before work and get a head start on the day. Getting up early is something successful people do every day, and there’s a reason for that.

They’re not dashing around before they get to work. They’re taking on the day calmly and they have time to get all those little tasks done. It makes them better prepared for the day ahead.

Set your alarm slightly earlier than normal and keep putting that alarm back until you’re getting up at the time you want.

Accomplish the Impossible Goal

Nothing will make you feel as good as completing something you didn’t previously think was possible. The impossible goal is different for everyone. It’s often conquering a fear or overcoming something you never thought you could do because of reasons X, Y, and Z.

Initiate a personal project where you will take on something you didn’t think was possible. For example, it could be running a marathon. Suffer for the accomplishment and by the time you come to the end of your journey you’ll have learned lessons in confidence, tenaciousness, and persistence.

Meditation as an act of self-reflection and relaxation is something that so many people never seem to master because they’re so busy. It’s easy to feel as if you’re always switched on and you never have any time to yourself. Meditation is a chance to break free of these cycles and slow the pace of your life down.

Meditation can have a huge effect on your brain. There are a number of physical changes that completely alter how your brain works. Some areas of the brain that increase in density include problem-solving, resilience, and self-control.

Plus, these changes last forever!

Concentrating on One Thing at Once

Multitasking is bad for productivity. The fact is that this is the worst thing for your productivity because by spreading your resources thin you’re never giving enough time and focus to each task. Go out of your way to concentrate on one task at once. This can be difficult if you’re used to juggling multiple things at the same time.

If you physically can’t do this, it might be time to outsource. You’ll soon find that devoting yourself to one thing only will allow you to perform better and get that one task done faster. You’ll be successful, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the beginning.

Last Word – Instilling New Skills Forever

These five uncomfortable deeds will push you all the way out of your comfort zone. The problem is the getting started part. Once you manage to get started you’ll find the ride relatively smooth. These new skills will be instilled forever, and they will contribute to your overall success.

The goal is not to get something done or to accomplish a great deed. It’s designed to help you get into the habit of challenging yourself on a daily basis. You’ll find leaving your comfort zone a regular part of your day.

Which uncomfortable task will you take on?
